Another close-up shot of the chop job. Looks good. Getting the doors to fit were a real job. I wound up adding 1/8” to the door edges to close up the huge door gaps that were common on the early Fords. On top of that the rear quarters had been replaced and repaired several times..

Whoever did the repairs over the years wasn’t real keen on fits. They look good now but I’m glad I didn’t have to pay a body shop to do all this massaging. The cost of building this car would have skyrocketed. As it is I’ve already blown my budget.

Dash has been cut out for instrumentation. AC vents are in center on either side of what is now the tach. (Used to be the clock.) I’m building a console from the center of the dash to the floor which will house the Radio, AC Controls, The Air Ride Controls, and a third AC vent. The Air Ride controls will be hidden and recessed behind a small door in the console. The console will be painted Candy Apple Red, the same as the dash so it all blends as one unit.

A view of the under dash placement of the AC and various switches and wiring harness terminal. I have hidden away all the switches such as ignition, lights and cigarette lighter under the dash on the drivers side. (I don’t smoke but my cell phone does.) In the center are vacuum switches for AC.

Ok thats all for this session. I hope I can keep up the momentum. I have a target date of May, just in time for Bakersfield. At least I should be driving it in primer. More updates to come.
