The Mystery Car is a 1957 Oldsmobile Convertible

Many cars of this type were especially created for the Auto Shows of the 50’s and 60’s. They were known as the “Dream Cars of Tomorrow” which still hold a fascination for Auto Show enthusiast’s today. This car faded into oblivion like so many others, It’s fate is unknown. It may be in a museum somewhere or stored in someone’s old barn. Many manufacturers had a policy of sending these cars to the crusher and made sure they were destroyed when they were done with them, so I’m afraid very few if any survive today. I for one would be interested in knowing what happened to it.

One thing that strikes me about this 1957 Oldsmobile is the front end’s uncanny resemblance to the styling on the 1998 car models so commonly seen today. Notice the lack of protruding door handles for a clean look. Don’t forget, this car was designed over 40 years ago. This design team had some vision compared to some of the more absurd looking designs that were popular during that era.
